Take Action: Prevent Rollbacks of Federal Education Protections

2017 has nearly come to a close. And, what a year it's been. At CJSF, we continue to support our grantee partners and walk alongside them on a path that we know leads to equity and to the schools all children deserve. During the past month alone, CJSF and our partners joined together to ensure that our collective voice was considered in federal decision-making about students' and families' civil and human rights. We did so by submitting comments on proposed federal priorities and hosting a funders' briefing to raise awareness of potential rollbacks to federal education protections. We sought to amplify the beautiful and bold voices of partners like Tarana Burke of Girls for Gender Equity, the original architect of the #MeToo campaign. We sponsored the inaugural Data 4 Black Lives convening at MIT. And, we featured the work of our partner, Power U, and our ally, Advancement Project, on our SchoolHouse: Equity in Education podcast. Read more about each of these ways in which the Communities for Just Schools Fund is fulfilling our commitment to "Fund, Build, Connect, and Lead" (and check out our strategic plan for doing this from 2017-2020 if you haven't done so already).

Happy New Year to each and every one of you. Wishing you light, clarity, and wellness as you stay the course toward victory.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
